On the edge of the Canadian Shield, the heart of the boreal forest lies the last of the La Grande Complex facilities: La Grande-1.
This run-of-river power plant, made of 640,000 m3 of concrete—enough to build a sidewalk from Montréal to Miami—will impress you with its drive shafts measuring over 2 m in diameter.
The La Grande-1 is a hydroelectric power station on the La Grande River that is part of Hydro-Québec’s James Bay Project.
