Churchill Falls

01

Churchill Falls, formerly Grand Falls, is a 74.7 m high waterfall on the Churchill River.

Formerly it was counted among Canada’s most impressive natural features. In the 1960s, the diversion of the river for the Churchill Falls Generating Station blocked almost all of the falls’ former flow.

Now a small stream meanders along its old course and flows down the rocks. Less often than once every ten years, during spring thaw or periods of exceptionally heavy rain, water runs down the falls.
