History

A major tourist attraction in Louisbourg is the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. This site allows visitors to experience what life would have been like in the 1700s.

Settlers from all over the world, including Germany, Ireland, and Africa, once settled in this area to start a new life. There are opportunities to learn about Mi’kmaq and Unama’ki Indigenous traditions, as well as exhibits, beautiful landscapes, and trails.
