Mile 0 Post

01

This post in downtown Dawson Creek marks Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway.

The Mile 0 Post was erected in 1946 and is an excellent spot for a selfie, a stretch break or to start your journey on the Alaska Highway. The visitors centre nearby has souvenirs to remember your stop at the Mile 0 Post.

The Alaska Highway begins in Dawson Creek and runs to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon. People do not use “east” and “west” to refer to the direction of travel; “north” and “south” are used, referring to the south (Dawson Creek) and north (Delta Junction) termini of the highway.
