Every small town has a story. We've mapped 984 of them.
Put your town on the map
We help municipalities and tourism organizations attract visitors through professional content, travel guides, and managed Google Ads campaigns — all on a national platform reaching 130,000+ travellers a year.
Many small towns have a basic municipal website but no dedicated tourism page. Travellers searching online find nothing — and drive past.
Tourism advertising costs thousands. Most small-town budgets can’t support Google Ads, social campaigns, or content marketing.
Provincial DMOs focus on major destinations. Regional tourism organizations help — but can’t cover every small community.
A traveller in Toronto planning a Nova Scotia road trip will never discover your town unless someone puts it on a national platform.
1000 Towns of Canada exists to solve this. We give every small town a presence on a national tourism platform — and promote it through managed Google Ads campaigns.
All 984 towns have a dedicated page with an overview, map, and key facts. Partnerships don’t unlock access — your town is already here. What partnerships do is amplify your story, put your town in front of more travellers, and give you professional content and advertising campaigns you couldn’t build on your own.
Campaign-based partnerships with clear deliverables and a performance report. Priced to fit within municipal procurement — most CAOs can approve without council resolution.

Founding-partner rates (20% off) available for the first 10 partners until December 31, 2026. All prices in CAD. No long-term contracts — each partnership is a single campaign with clear deliverables. Complements your existing RTO and provincial tourism marketing.
All content improvements are permanent. Campaign durations apply to Google Ads and promotional placements only.
Fair question. Here’s why a partnership delivers more than advertising alone.
On your own
You advertise a page that doesn’t convert
Most municipal tourism pages are a photo, a paragraph, and a phone number. Driving paid traffic there means high bounce rates and wasted budget. Visitors click, see nothing useful, and leave.
With 1000towns
You advertise a page worth visiting
Your partnership includes a professionally written town page with attractions, photos, stories, nearby towns, and trip planning tools. Visitors land on something that makes them want to come.
On your own
You need to hire someone to run the ads
Google Ads requires keyword research, bid management, ad copy, and ongoing optimization. An agency charges $500–1,000 just for campaign management — before any ad spend.
With 1000towns
Campaign management is included
We build and manage your Google Ads campaigns as part of every package. No agency fees, no learning curve, no extra cost. You get a performance report at the end.
On your own
Your site competes alone in search results
A single page on drumheller.ca competes with every major tourism site for the same keywords. Google ranks established, content-rich domains higher.
With 1000towns
You inherit an 8,300-page platform’s authority
Your town page lives within a national platform that Google already treats as an authority on small-town Canadian tourism. 984 towns, 8,300+ pages of content — your page benefits from all of it.
Only with 1000towns
You get discovered by travellers who never searched for your town
Someone searches “small towns in Alberta” or “weekend road trip from Calgary” — they find 1000towns, browse the map, and discover your community. You can’t buy that kind of discovery with Google Ads on your own site. National cross-traffic is something only a platform can deliver.
Content + Visibility + Advertising
on one national platform
We don’t just list your town — we tell its story. Every partnership includes professionally written content, a place on Canada’s coast-to-coast small-town tourism platform, and targeted Google search advertising managed by our team. Your town gets found by travellers who are actively looking for places to visit.
Tell us your town and we’ll send you a free preview of what your enhanced page could look like — before any commitment. See the potential first.
Pick the package that fits your goals and budget. We’ll have a 30-minute call to understand your town, your tourism priorities, and what you’d like visitors to know about your community.
We create your content — enhanced page, travel guide, social posts — and launch your Google Ads campaign. Your town starts appearing in search results for travellers in your region.
At the end of your campaign, you receive a detailed performance report: page views, search impressions, ad clicks, and engagement data. Real numbers you can share with your council or board.
We’re working with our first pilot communities now. Real results, real data, and real testimonials will be shared here in fall 2026.
I’m Vlad Umnov, and I started 1000 Towns of Canada in 2016 with a simple idea: hundreds of Canadian communities had no real presence online, and travellers had no way to find them.
What began as one person’s project became something much bigger. Students and professors from over 30 universities across the country researched and wrote about their communities. Local residents shared hidden gems. Municipal and community representatives opened doors and pointed us in the right direction. Ten years and 984 towns later, we’re still at it.
I bring 20 years of experience in journalism and digital media to the platform, but the content belongs to the communities. Our job is to make sure travellers can find your town — and that when they do, they want to visit and tell their friends.

Your existing page is a starting point. A partnership transforms it — we refresh the content, add professional photos, create a dedicated travel guide, run Google search advertising campaigns targeted to your town, and feature you on the homepage and in our newsletter. You also get a performance report showing exactly how many travellers found your community.
Pilot partnerships are $1,000 — well within most CAOs’ discretionary spending authority. Town Spotlight is $2,000 for a full single-town campaign with a dedicated landing page. Regional Partnerships for tourism boards start at $3,000 for 3 towns. Founding-partner rates (20% off) are available for the first 10 partners. Every package includes Google search advertising, professional content, and a performance report.
