The 150 Mile Little Red Schoolhouse is the district’s oldest operational school (Cariboo-Chilcotin). It was built beside the ancient Cariboo Waggon Road in the autumn and winter of 1895-1896 when 150 Mile House was a vibrant centre of trade, transportation, and administration for the vast Cariboo-Chilcotin area of British Columbia. The structure is one of just seven historic structures in the once-important townsite of 150 Mile House.

The 150 Mile Little Red Schoolhouse is significant because of its closeness to other historic structures that were all part of the founding settlement. In the early years, pupils at the 150 Mile Little Red Schoolhouse kept their horses in a neighbouring barn during the winter.
