Ashern Pioneer Museum

Be sure to stop by at the Ashern Pioneer Museum for a history lesson about the Ashern area.

The museum includes Ashern’s first church, Darin school, Hoffman log house, a post office, and Siglunes municipal building. The museum also hosts a mini Threshermen’s Reunion in September.

Be sure to stop by at the right time as tours are only in June and September.

Ashern Rodeo

Labour Day weekend

Be sure to visit Ashern on Labour Day for the annual Ashern Rodeo where you will see a street dance, fireworks, parade, social and The Ashen Horse Show.

Also, be sure to buy your tickets for the Ashern Rodeo Beef Draw.

Home Town of Actor Adam Beach

Adam Beach was born in Ashern, the son of Sally and Dennis Beach, and was raised on the Dog Creek First Nations Reserve, with his two brothers.

Adam is best known for his roles as Victor in Smoke Signals. He has roles in The New Mutants, Joe Dirt, and Suicide Squad.

The Pedlar Film

In 1982 the National Board film The Pedlar was shot in Ashern.

The Pedlar is a dramatic film based on the short story by W.D. Valgardson, A Place of One’s Own. Tired of the rootless, lonely existence of a travelling merchant, a man searches for a place to settle down, and someone to share his life.

Home Town of NHL Player Chuck Arnason

Former NHL player Chuck Arnason grew up in Ashern in the 1950s.

As a right-winger, he played from 1968 to 1980 on several teams such as The Montreal Canadians, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Minnesota North Stars.

He is a Member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame.
