Tarahne Provincial Park

Widely known as the Switzerland of the North!

The Tarahne Provincial Park displays mighty and grand snow-capped rocky mountains, passing through the serene and gleaming Atlin Lake. This is the perfect start to your next adventure!

The park features a variety of activities perfect for ones who love nature and majestic wilderness, such as heliskiing, skiing, fishing, and hiking! The beautiful scenery makes it a bonus!

The captivating M.V. Tarahne, a tourist steamboat built in the late 1910s, has also been beached at the lake since 1958, serving as a picturesque selfie spot for all tourists!

Some of the facilities available in the park include delicious local eateries and BBQ shelters for picnics. There are sports facilities for children and families, such as baseball diamonds, basketball courts, playgrounds, jogging tracks, and a volleyball court.

Ta Ch’ila Provincial Park

The Ta Ch’ila Provincial Park, also known as Boya Lake, is a gleaming location like nature’s treasure chest, perfect for you and your family on your adventure. The Boya Lake is filled with warm aqua-marine water reflecting the marl lake bottom. It is perfect for boating, canoeing, swimming and fishing local specialties such as Lake char, round whitefish, burbot, and northern suckers.

The park offers a wide variety of activities and facilities to make your trip special: pet-friendly (leash needed), wheelchair-accessible facilities are available in the park, boat launch, campfires, one cold water drinking water pump, pit toilets, playgrounds for children, picnic areas, paid RV campgrounds.

The Lakeshore Trail is a 1.5-kilometre ideal for hiking and cycling. The park also features a wide range of wildlife, such as moose, beavers, mountain goats and waterfowl, and songbirds, leaving you in complete awe of the park’s beauty.

Atlin Heli Skiing

This next stop will visually transport you to the mighty Swiss Alps! Hold your horses! Or should I say skis?

The Atlin Heli Skiing is the perfect winter activity for the brave-hearted, with scenic and lovely views of Atlin and what it offers! This activity requires skills for safety reasons; skiers must be at the intermediate level to ski confidently and safely. Snowboarders should be in touch with speed control as the dry snow terrain of the resort can raise speed rapidly, and personal equipment is strongly encouraged.

The pilots are well-trained and familiar with the area and use avalanche airbags, satellite navigation and telephones to ensure connectivity in the remotest of locations to ensure customer safety. This location is a must if you love adventure and a taste of intensity!

Monarch Mountain

The last spot on our list of must-visits is the tall, striking and mighty Monarch Mountain! Monarch Mountain officially started as a ski area in 1939, although people had been skiing the mountains surrounding the valley for as far back as 1914.

This 6.4-kilometre out-and-back trail is a challenging route perfect for hikers who love a rise in adrenaline! The trail is well paved for hikers and pets to ensure clear routes all year round, surrounded by tall pine trees and elevated rocky terrains. This one is a picture-perfect trail!

The mountain offers scenic views of Atlin Lake and Teresa Island, and some facilities included on the trail is a wheelchair-accessible parking lot to ensure safe parking. Make sure to visit this serene location next time you are in Atlin.
