Parc Mathieu – Cenotaph of the Chaudiere Regiment

Parc Mathieu was named in honour of Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Mathieu (1907-1976), commander of the troops of the Régiment de la Chaudière in Normandy, on June 6, 1944.

Along with the beautiful rest areas and floral arrangements, there is the RĂ©giment de la Chaudière Cenotaph erected in 1990 in memory of the 241 missing from the RĂ©giment de la Chaudière during World War II, an interpretation panel from the Sites of Memory / Interpretation of the Chaudière Valley project (piloted in 2010 by the Marius-Barbeau Museum), and the Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden. Don’t miss this important piece of the town’s history.
