The Dickson Hardie Interpretive Centre

This museum stores a remarkably world-famous artifact. This is the location of a replica 92-million-year-old fish fossil, affectionately referred to as Big Bert. In 1980, a local Carrot River farmer discovered Big Bert while fishing and handed it over to local authorities. Scientists found that this fossil was over 92 million years old, one of the oldest discoveries of its kind in North America. Just a decade later, another fossil of significant pre-historic age was again found in the Carrot River. This town has a unique reputation for being a hotspot of ancient life.
