HBRC Colony

Near 1977, the HBRC Colony in Crooked Creek was established as a branch of the Spring Point Hutterite Colony.  Birch Hills Hutterite Colony is Ridge Valley’s daughter colony.

In 2021, the HBRC Colony was a Dariusleut colony open to the public. It’s a terrific area to spend time outside with the family or to take some time off for travellers.

Sturgeon Lake Natural Area

The mature forest island near the west end of Sturgeon Lake is only accessible by boat. Great blue herons and bald eagles frequent the island. It’s a beautiful spot for families to enjoy quality time together outdoors.

There are many activities that can be done here, such as swimming, boating, hiking, etc.

Cosy Cove Camp Ground

Cosy Cove is a little cove near the end of the Jug Island Trail. The trail is only 2 kilometres long, which makes it a great hike for the entire family. In the summer, it might be a nice place to go if you want to avoid the large beach crowds prevalent elsewhere in the region. Swimming out to Jug Island and clambering on the rocks is much fun. However, it can be very cold, depending on the tide.

The beach is around 150 metres long, with plenty of space to spread out on the pebbled area. It’s a nice area for visitors and residents to spend the day getting some fresh air.
