Gibsons is best known in Canada as the setting of the popular and long-running CBC Television series The Beachcombers. The series aired from 1972 to 1990.

Molly’s Reach

Molly’s Reach is the cafĂ© featured in The Beachcombers. It has since become a popular tourist destination in Gibsons.

Molly’s Reach serves hearty breakfasts, fish and chips.

Soames Hill

Soames Hill is one of Gibson’s favourite spots to hike. Elevated 65m above the Straight of Georgia. The hike to Soames Hill is somewhat difficult, with a huge set of stairs that must be climbed to get to the lookout.

However, once on the lookout, the views are well worth the climb. This trail is dog friendly and is a 2km round trip.

Georgia Beach

Located on the shores of the Georgia Strait, Georgia Beach is a beautiful beach with a view of the mountains and the beautiful ocean. This beach is a favourite spot for kayakers and dog walkers in Gibsons. There is a strong current off the beach, so it is recommended that you are a strong swimmer if you plan on taking a dip. Georgia Beach has a grassy park with picnic tables for sunny day picnics!

Home Town of Ryan Dempster

Ryan Dempster is a former MLB pitcher who played over 15 years in the league.

Born and raised in Gibsons, Dempster would win a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013. Dempster is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and was a two-time all-star in the MLB. Dempster is now a game analyst for the Chicago Cubs.

Gibson’s Public Art Gallery

Opened in 2003, Gibson’s Public Art Gallery has been showcasing local artists’ works and work worldwide.

The Gallery offers permanent and seasonal exhibitions, many of which showcase local Indigenous artists. The Gallery offers tours of their incredible art experience, and the knowledgeable staff are always happy to help!

Chaster Park is a beautiful public space that the community of Gibsons loves to use for public gatherings, picnics, or just some fresh air. Chaster Park is the perfect location for a picnic, featuring both an oceanfront beach and a grassy picnic area.

Furthermore, the park has a hall available to rent for larger gatherings. Stop by Chaster Park to see why it is so treasured in Gibsons.

Located in the Gibsons Public Market, the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre is a 1200-square-foot aquarium featuring local marine life. Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre is famous for its touch pools which allow guests to interact with marine animals. Home Town of Don S. Davis

Born in Missouri but settling in Gibson’s, Don S. Davis is known for his role in the shows Stargate SG-1, Miracle, and Twin Peaks.

Davis chose to move to Gibsons after performing acting roles in Vancouver. Furthermore, Davis was a Captain in the United States Army before his acting career. Davis will always be remembered as General Hammond from Stargate SG-1.
