Old Lawson House

Close by the rail crossing was The Junction Hotel, later becoming The Lawson Hotel after a change in ownership. Perhaps it was best known as Murph’s Place when retired NHL player Ron Murphy took ownership.

It was also known as the Hagersville Inn and The Old Lawson House.

Now it is close. But check the famous Hagersville place.

Hewitt’s Dairy Bar

Dairy Bar is an ice cream shop operating since the spring of 1962. They offer over 60 rich and famous ice cream flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cotton candy, butter pecan, maple walnut, ripple, blueberry cheesecake, pumpkin pie, and so much more!

You can ask for ice cream in a cone or buy sundaes, 2 litres, or a 10.2L tube. There’s a size that is suitable for everyone! If you are diabetic or have a super-reduced diet, they have a sugar-free low-fat ice cream that is perfect for you.

If none of those work for you, you can always have frozen yogurt or sherbet; both are options you can’t go wrong with!

Eaglesnest Motorsport Park

The Eaglesnest Motorsport Park began operating in 1980 with the goal of staying a family-oriented park. The first track of the park was created on the front lawn of the owner’s property.

However, as the years have gone by, they have expanded the track to the backfield, where many races have taken place, such as the sanctioned motocross racing events, Offroad Tough Trucks, and snowmobile races.

If you plan to visit the park, sign the adult waiver or fill in the minor forms before going!

Taquanyah Conservation Area

The Taquanyah Conservation Area is a 136-hectare property in the Carolinian Zone. The species found in the area are typically found much further south in America.

Before 2005, there used to be a dam in the area, but it stopped operating. This allowed the area to be restored by adding new wetlands, ponds, and trails. With the help of Ducks Unlimited Canada, Six Nations of the Grand River, Habitat Haldimand, and the Haldimand Stewardship Network, the conservation project succeeded.

Today, you can enjoy a beautiful nature walk on the trails with interpretive signs to help you understand the property.
