Discovery Wildlife Park

From May 1st to September 30th

As its name suggests, this wonderful park is home to many wildlife animals that were orphaned or abandoned, allowing them a second chance at life! Aside from the zoo, there are 49 campground sites and 17 cabins for those who want to stay and enjoy the sounds of wildlife as they fall asleep.

They have several annual presentations, with daily presentations where the animals showcase their skills. Other activities include taking a walk with Nissa, the orphaned wolf and snapping photos with the bears! There’s plenty of fun to be had with the entire family!

Although not open in the winter, they offer a drive-through night light spectacle from mid-November to January. Winter visitors can also take a nature walk with the wolves in the snowfield valleys!

Innisfail & District Historical Village

This village, one of Alberta’s largest museums, originated in 1970. It preserves the local history of Innisfail, beginning with the Gibson family’s donation of “The Spruces.”

It has 18 buildings on 2 acres of land, representing the history of Innisfail from the late 1800s to the 1930s. The buildings’ exteriors and interiors give visitors a distinctive look back in time.

The village hosts Friday afternoon teas and various other events throughout the summer. Admission is quite cheap, and it is wheelchair accessible, making it an ideal place to visit on a trip to Innisfail! Learn more about the town’s history!

Dr. George Kemp House

Dr. Henry George was a medical practitioner from England who moved to Innisfail in 1893. He was a pioneer of science, medicine, and museology. His home, also known as Lindum Lodge, served as a home for his medical practice. He built the first library of the Northwest Territories and founded the Alberta Natural History Society in 1906.

Dr. George/Kemp home overlooks Dodds Lake and is considered one of Innisfail’s earliest residences. It was built using local materials and restored to its 1920s appearance. Visit this local historical site to see the museum and tea room within!

Dinos Centre Inc.

This recreation and learning centre has a dinosaur-themed laser tag, mini-golf, escape room, cafe, and a lot more for you to discover! The Bible History Museum within the Dinos Centre allows visitors to find out more about the origins and history of the Bible, along with ancient civilizations and dinosaurs. There is also a driving range outside the facility, which is ideal for enjoying the morning sun before getting a bite to eat at the cafe! Stopping by the Dinos Centre is a great way to immerse yourself in the archeology of the past. Bring the whole family together for a fun outing amongst the dinosaurs!

Innisfail Golf Club

From mid-April to mid-October

The Innisfail Golf Club has been the ideal location for golfing in Innisfail since 1924. This local golf club has 27-holes available, with three challenging and nine scenic golf courses for all kinds of golfers. They have different rotations every day, allowing golfers to enjoy what it has to offer. The poplar trees and water hazards stimulate the experience and test the golfers’ skills.

A Clubhouse nearby offers food and drinks, which is a great option if visitors want to relax and enjoy the small-town vibes. They also offer driving ranges and practice green for those that want to sharpen their skills. Visit one of the best golf courses in Alberta, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced golfer!

Innisfail Ski Hill

From mid-December to March (Depending on snow)

The local Ski Hill is a winter wonderland for winter recreation, founded in the early 1960s by volunteers. They built a few ski runs and trails for all ages, with a ski chalet and rope lift system necessary to make the ski hill operable. The ski chalet on its grounds offers quick snacks and beverages for its attendees. It is near the Innisfail Golf Club and relies on natural snow for the season.

They offer six main runs for people of all skill levels, along with a few side trails for those advanced skiers that want to test their limits. Since their opening, their ski trails have aided many great athletes and ski community personnel. Their affordable ticket fees and rental gear make it a wonderful place to visit during winter. Spend a day at the Innisfail Ski Hill if you enjoy skiing or snowboarding!

Century Theatre

This local theatre is a historical gem that first opened in 1928, considered a cultural establishment beloved by Innisfail residents. Although the theatre no longer shows regular movies as of September 2020, the building is a must-see in the town of Innisfail! The architecture is a beautiful monument that is worth seeing at least once. See the Century Theatre with your own eyes to bask in its atmosphere!

This family-friendly restaurant serves great Greek and Western cuisine to local citizens and tourists alike! They offer many daily specials and a great variety of wines, with chicken lemon rice soup. Napoleon Lake

This large lake on the west side of the town of Innisfail is a great place for fishing, with a 20-acre plot of land nearby. Visitors can walk on the Napoleon Lake Trails and access the lake’s beautiful viewing platforms. The trail consists of nature and hiking trails, perfect for enjoying a relaxing afternoon. There is a park near the lake, with playgrounds available for kids to enjoy. Enjoy the natural environment in all its glory at this local lake!

Daines Pro Rodeo

Established in 1960, the Daines Pro Rodeo is located 4 miles north of Innisfail and is home to one of the longest-standing rodeos in Canada! The founder, Jack Daines, passed away in December 2021 but is still beloved by the local community. Their long-awaited rodeo occurs once a year every summer and showcases bareback riding, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, bull riding, and more!

Innisfail Local Farmers Market

From May to September

This seasonal summer farmers market allows the community’s individuals to come to sell their produce, home-baked treats, crafts, and more. The surrounding farms bring their produce to residents, such as the Edgar Farms tender asparagus and the Jungle Farm’s fresh strawberries. If you want to get your hands on fresh ingredients or just see the sights of the local farmers market, come on by!
