One of the Sproat Lake Provincial Park’s most significant features is the finest panel of prehistoric petroglyphs. These nine ancient rock carvings are called “K’ak’awin,” they are on lakeshore rocks depicting mythological figures.

Little is known of the origin of this petroglyph, but it isn’t hard to imagine this rock carving depicting some creatures from the Sproat Lake -either real or mystical ancient monsters. The area has been traditionally occupied by the Hupacasath First Nation.
