Metcalfe Fair

Metcalfe Fair is the premier annual fair in the village of Metcalfe that has been running every year in early fall since 1856. The Metcalfe Fair is a blast for the whole family, including an exhibition midway with various rides and games. The agricultural-themed fair also prides itself in Metcalfe Fair Fiddling and Step Dancing Competition.

This fair also has the Metcalfe Farmers’ Market with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as livestock shows. Entertainment at the fair also includes great local live acts and indigenous performances. The Fairgrounds is home to many public and private events. Special events such as Shroomfest, an annual mushroom festival, can be found at the fair.

River Oak Winter Trails

River Oak Winter Trails are truly a unique nature experience in the Metcalfe area. During the winter, this trial is open for visitors for skating, snowshoeing, and hiking. Explore River Oaks’s mixture of orchards, meadows, and forests outdoors. The setting makes this location a premier trial for skating and a natural playground.

River Oak Winter trials have a historic log lodge, a courtyard with a bonfire area, a temporary event tent and washroom facilities. In addition, the on-premise facility has services for renting skates, helmets, and snowshoes. The trial is open only during ample ask skating conditions. River Oak is spacious and hosts team parties, birthdays, school field trips, weddings, and corporate events.

The Stable Restaurant

The Stable is a family-owned country restaurant. This restaurant has been within the same family for over 20 years and provides a unique hometown experience. Here you will find dishes made with fresh local ingredients grown by Ontario farmers. A wonderful meal for couples, friends, or the whole family.

The Stable is a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enjoying the good food during one of this restaurant’s live music events makes this experience a real treat.

Metcalfe Farmers’ Market

The Metcalfe farmers market is a weekly market hosted at the Metcalfe Fairgrounds since 1993. With over 45 vendors, patrons are sure to find something worthwhile. This a producer-based market where all come from our vendors that grow or make the products. The products that can be found at the Metcalfe Farmers market include fresh farm produce, baking, furniture, honey, meats, preserves, locally roasted coffee, locally blended loose-leaf tea, wood crafts, clothing, takeaway food, jewelry, artisan work, wines, beers, spirits, home décor and so much more. Some weekly markets have a holiday theme, such as Christmas and Easter.

Larry Robinson Arena

Larry Robinson Arena, formerly Metcalfe Community Centre, is Metcalfe’s most notable sports facility. In the area, you will find an NHL size rink with ample seating. This facility was named after the former Montreal Canadiens all-start defensemen Larry Robinson. This facility is home to Metcalfe Jets of the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Larry Robinson Arena is also home to the Metcalfe Curling Club.
