Marjorie’s Bridge

Back in the 20th century, and before the construction of the Viking Trail Highway, Marjorie Bridge was the only way to get up or down the coast of the Great Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland. The bridge is easy to spot with its bright red roof and a large sign. It also has an arrow pointing in the direction to see thrombolites.

Skin Boot Church

Many years ago, a missionary by the name of Canon J. T. Richards wanted to build a church but did not have the funds. Canon Richards commissioned the local people, and they made seal skin boots and sold them to raise money. Not only did the skin boots raise funds to build the church, but they also employed the coastal people!

The church was completed in 1931 and is known as St. Barnabas Anglican Church by the locals. The church is a heritage sight with a unique gothic style and architectural features.

White Rock Walking Trail

This short trail takes you along large white rocky formations, crushed rocks and limestone. Around 30 rare flower species grow along this trail, and signs are nearby to provide more information about them. This trail was dedicated to World War 2 veteran Lt Albert S. Rose, who was a runner and was known for delivering messages to his fellow soldiers by carrying them under his tongue. Had he ever been captured, he was ordered to swallow the message!
