Moparfest

Every summer, New Hamburg hosts Moparfest, Canada’s Largest all Mopar Car Show. Moparfest was established in 1979 by a non-profit organization called the Old Chrysler Corporation Auto Club (ACC Auto Club). In almost four decades of the event, they have brought in over $3.15 million.

Fans can visit the arena to see hundreds of special display vehicles or pre-register to showcase their Mopars. With discounted rates on hotels and camping from Moparfest partners, close to 20,000 guests come from across Canada and the United States to participate in the 2-day event each year.

There are tons of automotive and non-automotive vendors and local food and beverage trucks at the event. The event is family-friendly, featuring a children’s midway, prizes, contests, and even live entertainment.

New Hamburg Water Wheel

New Hamburg is home to the largest working wooden waterwheel in North America. It’s the town’s iconic symbol.

 

The waterwheel is located along the banks of the Nith River. The 50-foot waterwheel was officially opened in 1990.

Mountain Oak Cheese

Mountain Oak is a local favourite for high-quality traditional dutch gouda. There is a selection of exciting, flavoured cheeses like black truffle, smoked chilli pepper, and blueberry.

They are involved in every step of the cheese-making process and even plant and harvest the crops their dairy cows feed upon. They have won numerous awards at the World Championship Cheese Contest.

Their cheese gift baskets feature local jams and jellies and make fantastic gifts for friends and family. They also offer cheese plant tours every month so guests can learn about cheese-making.

Nith Valley Apiaries

Founded in 1918, Nith Valley Apiaries is a local honey farm located in New Hamburg, Ontario. They specialize in small-batch specialty honey and seasonal bee pollen products.

With almost 500 sustainable hives across Ontario, their mission is to support local farmers and the local communities with their high-quality products and environmentally conscious practices.

Guests can browse an extensive selection at their “Honey House” shop, but they also proudly supply many local shops and restaurants with their products.

Pizza Arca

Since 2004, Pizza Arca has been a New Hamburg favourite for fresh, local pizzas and panzerotti. They are famous for their specials, with generous toppings prepared in-house.

Their pizza dough is made from scratch daily, and they offer a wide selection of fresh, gourmet toppings, including prosciutto, feta cheese and grilled chicken. Patrons also love their selection of classic pizza sauces.

The quaint location has historical significance in the town, as it is a repurposed bank, with the original vault still intact. If you’re ever in New Hamburg, Pizza Arca is a must-try and can be found in the heart of the town on Peel Street.

William Scott Park

Located in the heart of New Hamburg, William Scott Park is a great place for visitors and families to unwind year-round. There is an off-leash dog area, scenic trails and North America’s largest working water wheel. Kids can also play on the well-maintained soccer field or jungle gym equipment.

 

Visitors can use the free boat launch to enjoy a paddle board or kayak down the adjacent Nith River. A short walk upstream from the park, you will find a small waterfall coming over the Nith River reservoir dam.

Walker Woods

This 3 km hiking loop is a great place to take in nature and wildlife in Wilmot. It takes an average of 43 minutes to complete the trail.

Walker Woods is open year-round, and visitors can enjoy snowshoeing or sledding in the winter. The trail is relatively flat, with an elevation gain of only 50m, making it a great place to run or walk your dog if you’re visiting Wilmot.

The woods are rich in biodiversity, with a variety of wildflowers, and it is also a great spot to go birdwatching.

Bitte Schon Brauhaus is a local brewery that specializes in small-batch craft beer.
