Canadian Automotive Museum

The old local car dealership is now filled with cars that date back to 1902. The 2,300 square meter museum is one of Oshawa’s most visited attractions.

There are two levels to the museums, the second level features Canadian-made cards. The museum features a 1908 De Dion-Bouton Roadster, 1926 Bentley 3 litre Speed Model, 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom lll, 1957 Dodge Regent and a ton more beautiful automobiles.

The Museum offers informational tours and is great for the whole family. They even have a replica of Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars.

Parkwood

National Historic Site

The Parkwood National Historic Site was home to the late R.S. McLaughlin who was a Canadian auto baron and founder of General Motors of Canada.

The home is inspired by early 20th century Beaux-Arts design. The mansion is 15,000 square foot with 55 rooms was built between 1915 and 1917.

Learn about the daily life of upkeeping this mansion and the large domestic staff that made this grand estate possible. The art, gardens and furniture are all preserved to show what life was like in this beautiful estate. The McLaughlin’s were very into gardening with eleven greenhouses and a staff of 24 gardeners. Still upkept today, come visit the beautiful gardens of this amazing estate.

Lakeview Park

Located along the shores of Lake Ontario, this beautiful park has walking trails, benches, picnic tables, washrooms, a splash pad and more.

This is a great park for a long walk on the beach or the catch the sunset. It’s also great for a family picnic or a day trip. There is a big playground for kids to burn off some steam. Large old trees provide shade throughout the park for picnics!

Robert McLaughlin Gallery

The Robert McLaughlin Gallery is 36,000 square foot museum designed by architect Arthur Erickson. The RMG is the largest gallery in Durham Region and features a permanent collection of over 4000 works.

The gallery is home to a significant collection of Modern and Contemporary Canadian art and has four galleries of diverse and changing exhibitions. Come learn about and view local and Canadian art throughout this beautiful gallery.

This museum holds the largest collection of armoured vehicles in Canada. The museum collects and preserves history and artifacts of the Canadian Forces, particularly the Oshawa-based Ontario Regiment. Weapons, uniforms and medals are also on display here!

McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve

In this reserve, there are 7 kilometers of walking and cycling trails. Some of the trail is mowed grass while others are gravel, wood or hard surface.

There are 11 trails to choose from though many link together. These trails were designed specifically for the visually impaired. Throughout the trails there are many information booths, viewpoints and picnic areas.

The reserve is home to over 400 different varieties of plants, trees, shrubs and wildflowers. The park is also home to many native birds, fish and mammals that can be seen year round.

Linton’s Farm Market

For over 50 years, Linton’s started growing tomatoes for a canning company which gradually added more fruits and vegetables and how now expanded into a farm market.

They now sell cheese, honey, homegrown fruits and vegetables, maple syrup, jams and more. The market also has a U-Pick, a kids play area, an animal area and school tours.
