Fryfogel Tavern is a handsome historic site originally built in the early 1800s. The building was constructed by a Swiss immigrant, Sebastian Fryfogel, and was named after him. The location has been kept by amazing staff and volunteers and is continuously being re-established. Paths are created, trees are planted, and parlours are painted. The property is under development to ensure that future generations can enjoy this beginning bit of Canadian history.
The tavern welcomes guests to come and traverse the rich stories this place has to offer. Many tours are held, some special tours, like the Ghost Tours, near Halloween. Register to secure a spot for special events, as the Fryfogel Tavern gets booked fairly quickly during those seasons.
Though the location is far from fully restored, you are welcome to enjoy this architectural gem with its grand bones and fascinating artwork still hanging on its walls. If you happen to drop by, the Tavern might not be open, but the gardens and arboretum are ready to be explored. Investigate the plagues packed with tales of old and records of the property.
