Tamarack Lake

A 15-min drive from Skookumchuck, Tamarack Lake is a small but beautiful lake by which you can enjoy a peaceful getaway. The recreation site features three campsites next to the lake where you and your friends and family can relax. The sites also feature a dock for those interested in bringing a boat. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, and paddle boarding are just some activities you can do in the lake.

Regardless of how you decide to enjoy your time at the recreation site, you will have a great view of the lake and surrounding mountains. Tamarack Lake is a perfect place for those who love the quiet outdoors.

Top of the World Provincial Park

While Top of the World Provincial Park is remote, about an hour from Skookumchuck, the journey is worth it if you are in the area. Situated at the Top of the World Plateau, the park is elevated 2200 m above sea level and features peaks up to 2900 m. Several trails are available for hikers to explore the beauty of the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia.

If you are visiting in the spring, visit the Alpine Meadow for beautiful views of flowers and mountains. If you visit in the winter, you will be greeted with stunning snowy views. Cross-country skiing and ice-fishing are two popular activities at this park. For the experienced and adventurous outdoors people, Top of the World offers backcountry camping and hiking.

Springbrook Resort Motel & RV Park

For those travelling by RV, the Springbrook Resort Motel offers an excellent place to stay and camp. There are several activities in the area to enjoy during your stay. Several trails in the area provide opportunities for birdwatching and sighting other wildlife. There is also a campfire on site, where you can get to know fellow campers. During the spring, there are several species of wildflower to add some colour to your morning walks.

About a 30-minute drive from Skookumchuck, Mineral Mountains Ziplines offers several ziplines for the adventurous of all ages. A great activity for friends and families, you will work with a guide leading you through over 2000 feet of ziplines!

Flying through the canopies, you can view the signature British Columbia mountains.

For those looking to visit a provincial park closer to Skookumchuck, Premier Lake Provincial Park is a perfect place to visit. About 30 minutes from Skookumchuck, this park offers another beautiful experience of the outdoors of British Columbia. The park offers excellent opportunities for fishing. It also boasts a rich diversity of wildlife, such as trout, elk, bighorn sheep, and several species of birds and waterfowl. Frontcountry camping is another popular activity at this park and offers an amazing way to experience the beauty of this park.

Johnson Lake

A quiet lake with a small recreation area, Johnson Lake is another excellent location for a peaceful outdoor getaway with friends and family. Located 5 minutes away from Skookumchuck, this is a close site featuring several amenities for camping. For those looking to make a shorter visit, this site is also excellent for day visits at its south site beach.
