Spruce Grove Farmer’s Market

Saturdays | 10 am – 1 pm

This family-friendly and the very welcoming farmers market is a great way to spend a Saturday morning lazily strolling through the market, talking with locals, and finding delicious food or small gifts for yourself or others.

The Spruce Grove Farmers Market is a local market that began in 1977. It has run regularly since then and is now open Saturdays from 10 am – 1 pm.

It is full of local vendors selling fresh produce, handmade items, and homemade baked goods. You can also get coffee, popcorn, and occasionally a lovely vegetarian and vegan food truck is onsite.

Spruce Grove Grain Elevator Museum

Built in 1958, this beautiful wooden grain elevator is the last grain elevator you will see west of Edmonton.

It was in use until 1995 and then preserved by the Spruce Grove ag society. It is now available for viewing as a museum so that everyone can learn about this unique piece of prairie history. Don’t forget to snap some pictures of the museum, grab a coffee, or stop at the farmers market if you visit on a Saturday.

As well, you can snap some photos with the Spruce Grove water tower. This water tower is painted with a mural to represent Spruce Grove in 1958, just a year after water and sewage had been brought to Spruce Grove.

Home Town of Hockey Goalie Grant Fuhr

Grant Fuhr was one of the National Hockey League’s best-ever goalies and a member of the outstanding Edmonton Oilers lineup of the 1980s.

Born in Spruce Grove in 1962, Grant received his first pair of skates from his adoptive parents at the young age of 4. His father encouraged him in sports and allowed him to make a makeshift arena in the basement of their home. Growing up he idolized NHL Player Glenn Hall and announced at the age of 7 he would be playing in the NHL.

Grant Fuhr would become one of the greatest goaltenders, playing on five Stanley Cup champion teams over twenty seasons (1981-2000) and earning induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003.

Now the Grant Fuhr Arena is home to the Spruce Grove Saints Junior A Hockey Club.
