St. Marys Station Gallery

The St. Marys Station Gallery is a historic train station and an art gallery. In 1907, this station was built to become one of the three Grand Trunk Railway stations in St. Marys. The residents of this community valued this station. When it was learned that it could be demolished, the town agreed with VIA Rail to take ownership of it and continue ticket sales.

This gallery features a unique range of artists for exhibitions with various mediums. During these exhibitions, artists can be found to interact with and talk to about their work. It helps support local artists and brings the small community together. In the past, there have been exhibits such as first nations exhibitions, character sketch costume designs, and glass works. Every few months, shows are staged with reasonably priced art. These nights are said to be packed since there is a unique and exciting art arrangement.

Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

This extremely affordable museum is perfect for baseball fans. It has three main features: the museum, The Harry Simmons Memorial Library, and the baseball fields. Visitors can learn about the rich history of baseball in Canada dating back to the 1700s with features such as the Vancouver Asahi and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Spotlights of famous players such as Babe Ruth, Fergie Jenkins, and Roberto Clemente are displayed for fans to admire. Important moments from the Olympics and highlights from teams such as the Blue Jays and the Montréal Expos are depicted for insight.

The Harry Simmons Memorial library partnered with the Centre for Canadian Baseball Research (CCBR) to offer research files and a library. Volunteers maintain it as this organization is a non-profit. If you are part of a team, you will want to book a field for a day to enjoy a barbeque, ball games, a museum tour, swimming in the quarry, and watch a baseball movie.

St. Marys Museum

This cozy heritage limestone house stays true to its qualities from when it was originally built in 1854, such as its fireplaces, crown mouldings, pine flooring and high ceilings. An early settler of St. Marys, George Tracy, built it for his family, making it one of the largest homes in the village during that time. It was turned into a museum almost a century later. Visitors will see exhibits on local history as well as admire the architecture.

Art of Ideas Gallery

The Art of Ideas Gallery is unlike any other. It is not meant to focus on a particular artist or medium but on the visitors and their perspectives. It is described as a place of reflection, engagement, learning, and illumination. The gallery is located inside a historic home that dates back to the 1880s, intact with its original architectural work. With an Italianate style, the building is a one-story brick structure with mansard roofing and a central tower. The paintings and photographs exhibited in this gallery are made by local artist Eugen-Florin Zamfirescu. Visitors can view the house and art with a 75-minute tour and are welcome to stroll through the garden afterwards.
