Elbow Lake Park

Check out Elbow Lake Park, where the lake is shaped like an anatomically incorrect elbow joint. A lovely park to take your motor boat out onto the still waters and enjoy a quiet morning. In the winter, skate on the frozen lake, ensure the ice is properly frozen before stepping on the ice, and never skate on the lake alone.

In the summer, cool off in the lake and feast on a lovely picnic made by a local eatery.

Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park

Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park is a small picnic park developed especially for seniors and people with disabilities. With two wheelchair-accessible trails, enjoy a comfortable stroll through the beauty of Nova Scotia’s forests. The docks allow for a relaxing fishing experience without needing a private boat. This provincial park is surrounded by Round Lake and Lewis Lake. Round lake is stocked several times a year with brook and rainbow trout ensuring anglers with lots of fish ready to be caught. The site has four nature trails and both open and sheltered picnic areas.

Testimonial from Local Guide, Diego Silva, Google Reviews:

“Great park with nice accessible and well-maintained trails. Parked at the park entrance and walked 1km to Round Lake. Then followed a trail along the water connected to the St Margaret’s Bay trail. Then backtracked to the main trail that took me to Lewis Lake—both nice lakes. Round Lake has a few docks on the lake. Lots of picnic tables around. Will definitely visit next summer for a family picnic.”

Flat Lake Park

Visit Flat Lake Park, where the natural trails bring back childhood memories of watching Bambi. Bring a mat to sit on, as the location does not yet have a picnicking site. Enjoy the beautiful Canadian fall in the lush woodland among the local wildlife. Birding enthusiasts and botanists can observe native winged creatures, flora, and fauna. Bring a soccer ball, a volleyball net, and a group of friends for an exciting outdoor game.

Testimonial from Local Guide, Amanda Rooney, Google Reviews:

“Beautiful little spot for kids, with a small grassy clearing, lake access and a stream. Not quite suitable for a dog walk…the loop takes about 3 minutes to walk. The small gravel parking lot at the trailhead.”

Lefty’s Restaurant and Lodge serves pub food and doesn’t disappoint in its beers. The business provides various options for coolers, domestic and imported beers, and Nova Scotia’s Craft Beers on Tap. Check out their website for more menu information!

Testimonial from Local Guide, Carol C, Google Reviews:

“Had the Saturday brunch steak and eggs. The steak was cooked well for the rare, and the sunny-side-up eggs were perfect. Their homefries were especially addictive and had great seasoning! Very attentive and friendly customer service.”

The Rustic Crust

The Rustic Crust began as a humble and unique wood-fired pizza truck. The restaurant continues to serve fresh wood-fired pizzas and pairs them with local craft beers and wines. Their homemade dessert pizza with Nutella, pistachios, and gelato will have you booking a flight to Italy. Enjoy live music on the weekends and their beer garden in the summer. The eatery is also available for private events such as weddings, business lunches, dinners, and cocktail receptions. Get ready for the pizza experience with their house starters like Garlic Fingers, the Rustic Bruschetta, Wood-Fired Pepperoni Bites, or their Warm Goat Cheeses. A simple kid’s menu has you picking a single topping on a bear-shaped or a fish-shaped pizza.

Testimonial from Local Guide, Victoria McCraig, Google Reviews:

“Great summer spot!

We got to sit outside in the beer garden & enjoy some live music. It is first come, first serve for the tables, but we didn’t wait long! Lots of food choices as well!”
