Canmore is the home town of Canadian Olympic Champions Chandra Crawford and Beckie Scott.
Chandra Crawford is a cross-country skier. She surprised everyone when she won the gold medal in the free sprint at the Turin 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
She was born in Canmore. In 2014 she retired from competitive skiing. Chandra divides her time between Calgary and Canmore. She focuses on running “Fast and Female”, her organization dedicated to the empowerment of girls through sport.

Rebecca “Beckie” Scott was a cross-country skiing athlete as Canada’s most successful cross-country skier and one of the world’s best all-around cross-country racers.
Beckie retired in 2006, as the most decorated Canadian cross-country skier. She currently resides in Canmore, Alberta and is a student of English through distance programs from Athabasca University.
