The Lost Patrol graves Spectacular Northwest Territories

The graves of the infamous “Lost Patrol” lie beside St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Fort McPherson. They pay homage to one of the most tragic episodes in Northern history.

In December 1910 four men from the Northwest Mounted Police left Fort McPherson on routine patrol to Dawson City in the Yukon Territory. Failing to find their way through the mountains, the patrol turned back to Fort McPherson.

By late February, when they had still not arrived at their destination, a search party was organized and set out to find them. The bodies were all found in March 1911.

Today their remains rest in the cemetery at the Anglican Church.
