History

The museum opened in 1967 as a place to celebrate local history in Northern Ontario. It has fascinating antiques, but the biggest attraction is the 275-ton Iron Horse steam engine outside.

The museum grounds also feature a sawmill, a CP Rail caboose, the footprints of Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, and a memorial to Louis Hémon.
