Eco-Odyssee

Eco-Odyssee is 500 acres of land that includes a 70 acres marsh, agricultural fields and rolling mountains accentuated by a magnificent mixed forest.

In 1997, after almost having been extinct, the beaver returned to North America in full force. Michel Leclair developed the idea of sharing his precious knowledge on the beaver and its habitat after purchasing his vast property in Wakefield.

Many outdoor activities are available at Eco-Odyssee, including pedal boating, walking mazes, scavenger hunts, skating the mazes during the wintertime, and many more.

During your pedal boat journey through the marsh, you will experience the environment from a beaver perspective.

Wakefield Covered Bridge

Once the main route for local traffic, The Wakefield Bridge is simply a pedestrian bridge for those to admire, walkthrough, or pedal. The bridge was built in 1997 to replace the Gendron Covered Bridge, which was built in 1915. The original bridge was burned by an act of arson in 1984, which led residents to plan for a new covered bridge to be built in its place. It spans 288 feet across the Gatineau River.

This bright red-covered bridge is a neat aspect of history and a beautiful sight. I suggest going in the fall to see it light up amongst the fall colours.

The Village House

Upscale comfort food best describes this restaurant. Run by husband and wife, The Village House is a snug, brick-walled eatery on the Gatineau River offering elevated comfort fare with an accompanying bar and patio.

Kaffe 1870

This restaurant makes you feel like you’re back in an old pub in the 70s. It has excellent food, great drinks and even better staff to care for your experience. They often have live bands playing in the evening. They also have a good variety of drinks that differ from those in Ontario bars.
