Castle Kilbride is an 1877 Grand Victorian Home located in Baden. It was built by James Livingston, an Ontario businessman and politician.

The site is now designated a Canadian National Historic Site by the Historic Sites and Monument Board of Canada. Today, the castle’s interior and exterior have been completely refurnished and restored, complete with victorian-era art.

Touring hours are between 10 am – 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

Every summer, they host a concert series on the front lawns of the castle. Visitors can bring their chairs and listen to music, a tradition dating from 140 years to when James Livingston lived there.

Baden Hotel

The Baden Hotel dates back to 1874, but the frame structure was built in 1858. In the early days of its operation, the hotel was adjacent to a railway and also had the ability to stable 100 horses, making it a prime location for travellers and merchants.

There is a great deal of history in the hotel, and in the 1910s, an unidentified traveller paid for his stay at the hotel by painting the ceiling tiles, which are still visible today.

Guests can enjoy a comfortable stay in their lodgings and take advantage of their bar and adjacent restaurant.

Several loops include steep climbs and narrow footing for the more adventurous hikers or those seeking a challenge. However, some trials are moderate, which are suitable for strollers.
