Georgetown Highland Games

Second Saturday in June

Established in 1975, the Georgetown Highland Games is held every 2nd Saturday in June at the Georgetown Fair Grounds. Georgetown is host to a variety of Scottish traditional games and celebrations.

This event is one of the largest single-day Highland Games in North America. Boasting over 1,000 competitors who gather to compete in Piping, Drumming, Highland Dancing & Heavy Weight events throughout the day.

Silver Creek Conservation Area

Explore nature’s beauty in the Georgetown area. Just a few minutes outside the town, this park’s 1,086 acres gives off a beautiful opportunity to connect with nature with great trails. Park along the road and set off.

The Silver Creek Conservation Area offers the best walking-hiking experience. Countless trails vary in difficulty, distance, and scenery. Most are looped, but some are one-way destinations. The park features the headwaters of Silver Creek, a small tributary of the Credit River, and a large Niagara Escarpment valley in the surroundings. View countless smaller rocky streams, waterfalls, rocky cliffs, and deep-defined forests. Listen to songbirds chirp through your travels and see other bird life like hawks and owls.  While potentially running into deer, coyotes, and red foxes.

Discover this meticulous conservation area, and admire the deep Canadian shield Canada is known for.

Dominion Gardens Park

A nice and well-maintained park that is in the heart of downtown Georgetown. The Dominion Gardens Park is a great place to hang out any time.

Step off the district, and set off into this little park. This park offers a lengthy, wavy trek around a pond centered in the park with a flock of different birds, fishes, and shrubs. Also, the grounds it has gardens, a playground and splash pad, a track, washrooms, and a picnic area with a Pavilion. Perfect for families with little ones. The area is also excellent for those who want to host a picnic for any number of parties and is a great place to meet up with friends.

Many opportunities are available, and the place is admirable in the winter to see all the Christmas lights and decorations on the trees.

Hungry Hollow Trail

Hungry Hollow Trail is nestled in south Georgetown and is known for its beautiful marshes, ponds, meadows, bridges, and groomed and raised boardwalk trails.

The trail is 5.40 km long, has elevation gains up to 60 meters throughout the course, and is perfect for anyone who wants a moderately challenging trek. It takes an average of an hour and a half to complete.

This trail is excellent for hiking and walking, cycling, sightseeing, and even cross-country skiing. Along the trail, signs point out different plants and animals that inhabit Hungry Hollow. View the many other bug species and colorful flowers around.

Old Seed House Gardens

The Old Seed House Gardens is a 1.8-acre public garden honoring the legacy of the Dominion Seed House in Georgetown. It features formal gardens, meandering pathways, a dry stone riverbed leading to a naturalized pond, and a walled garden next to the famous mock Tudor Dominion Seed House building. The area has vibrant daffodils, forsythias, lilacs, heritage peonies, magnolia trees, and countless other plant species. The garden is well maintained all year and regularly changes with other types of flowers.

The Old Seed House Gardens is excellent to check out any time of the year. Walk down the paths, bring a book, pack a lunch, or sit on one of the many available benches to enjoy the heartfelt scenery.

Georgetown Farmers Market

Open through June to October, Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

Since 1993, the Georgetown Farmers Market has brought the community together with buyers looking to purchase from local farmers, artisans, and craftsmen selling produce and other products.

There is a large selection of fresh, local, and different types of produce. The market runs along Main Street South, downtown Georgetown ON, from Church Street to James Street.

Some of the items you can expect to find are local seasonal fruit and vegetables, local honey, syrup and jams, deli meat items, hand-made botanical soaps and lotions, artisans, flowers and plants. Every week, the market features talented crafters and local community groups that appeal to various interests.

Furnace Room Brewery

The Furnace Room Brewery is a nicely renovated building adjacent to the Georgetown GO Train parking lot.

Beers’ selection is diverse, with many flavour arrangements and unique seasonal flavours. Some of their beers go from Beardmore Lagered Ale, Dynamo Cream Lager, and Chicken Man Pale Ale.

Their brewery features a Taproom on the main floor, a larger seating area upstairs, and an outside patio—a mix of trendy and old-fashioned décor styled inside, with TV screens and occasional live music.

Fallbrook Trail Ranch

Fallbrook Trail Ranch is proud to serve the community of Georgetown with Horseback riding activities. They offer learning sessions, tours, a summer camp for kids, and other parties and events, whether you are a beginner or an expert.

The trails offer beautiful, scenic views, and the horses are well cared for and happy for the ride.

They also have a head cook that offers a menu of sandwiches, soups, and BBQ options. Coffee and tea are complimentary when you order.

Uncorked on Main is the venture that features mouth-watering small bites & share plates, creative cocktails, craft beer, and wines, accompanied by live musicians. The place offers to dine in an elegant and modern atmosphere.

The main menu offers pasta, salads, tacos, charcuterie boards, and sandwiches. Try specifically their Beet Goat Cheese, Arugula Salad, Crispy Chorizo Chips, Trio of Hummus and Fried Naan, Butter Chicken Flatbread, and select a few items. Desserts go by Chocolate Lava Cake, Turtle Cheesecake, and Apple Blossom.

The Berwick Bistro and Lounge

Berwick Bistro is a casual place to enjoy great food and drinks in a chill setting. Serving lunch and dinner. Their choices of food are influenced by places around the globe. So expect a varied amount of food of different measures.

Their lunch menu has daily soups, salads, flatbreads, and more. Start specifically their appetizers such as Poached Pear and Walnuts on Heritage Greens, Berwick Ceaser, Braised Lamb Tacos, and Mushroom Flatbread. Handhelds such as their Prime Rib Burger and Brie, Pear and Prosciutto Grilled Sandwich are offered. Dessert goes from their S’mores Torched Marshmallow Cheesecake, Hand Crafted Fruit Crumble, or Vanilla Crème De Glace.

Their dinner menu offers the same appetizer and dessert menu, but with the addition of mains such as Chicken Paprikash, Egg Pappardelle with Tiger Shrimp, and AAA Flat Iron Steak with Sweet Potato Puree. There are select few more options, but everything is rightly made, with different tastes that you might not taste anywhere else but at The Berwick Bistro and Lounge.

This absolutely stunning wooden church takes your breath away the moment you lay eyes on it. The expert exterior design and shape fully utilizes the wood to make it a visually impressive experience.

The inside is equally breathtaking as the rich colour of the wood and the humble altar gives you an impression that you have travelled back into time and are in a humble village church.
