The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival returns with World-Class International Celtic Artists from Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the USA to perform from August 11-13, 2023, at Lions Harbour Park on the shores of Lake Huron.
The international lineup of musicians will be joining the festivities to celebrate the 31st Annual festival as well as share their talent and knowledge in the Celtic College & Kids Camp – August 7-11, 2023.
This year’s lineup includes multi-award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and musician Loreena McKennitt – inducted earlier this month into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame – she will be returning to her roots performing some of her early, most traditional Celtic songs. A rare occurrence for the international artist, who will be presenting a 60-minute set on Saturday, August 12, largely featuring her early repertoire of traditional Irish songs.
Montreal-based instrumentalists, Bon Débarras, will be bringing their blend of Quebecois folk music, traditional step dancing and global influences to Goderich with a show full of fun and inventive energy! Returning to Goderich are festival favourites and multi-award-winning Irish group Goitse and 2018 JUNO nominees Nova Scotian sisters Cassie and Maggie.
We’re delighted to introduce festival audiences to Mi’kmaq fiddler Morgan Toney, a prodigious talent who is helping shape the future of Cape Breton music. Joining the lineup this year will be 2022 BBC ALBA ‘Scots Musician of The Year’ nominee Ryan Young who has been bringing new and exciting ideas to traditional Scottish music, receiving international praise for his spell-binding interpretations on the fiddle. Audiences can also enjoy performances by de Barra, Steáfán & Saskia, Hearthstone, Heron Valley, The Murphy Beds, and Simon Mayor & Hilary James, and more to be announced.
