Exploits Valley Salmon Festival

Grand Falls-Windsor is home to the annual Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.

The festival dates back to 1985. Events that are part of the festival include dance in a stadium and a dinner of salmon.

Home Town of Icon Actor Gordon Pinsent

Gordon Edward Pinsent is the star of stage, screen, television, and radio. He was born in 1930 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador

Gordon Pinsent is an icon to audiences across Canada. Newfoundland settings and characters are important in Gordon Pinsent’s writings. Responsible for many of his own best roles, Pinsent wrote the screenplay and the musical version of The Rowdyman (1972).

Gordon is known for his roles in Away from Her, John and the Missus, A Gift to Last, Due South, The Red Green Show and Quentin Durgens.

Salmonid Interpretation Centre

Harmsworth Hall

One of the few registered heritage structures in central Newfoundland, Harmsworth Hall has served the community for over 70 years. Designed by architect Douglas Wood and constructed in 1929 by the Anglo Newfoundland Development Company, the Town Hall was the center of much of the town’s recreation.

The hall has a wood frame with a brick exterior.

Mary March Provincial Museum

Discover the rich history of Central Newfoundland, from indigenous cultures thriving here 5,000 years ago to the significant changes of 20th-century industrial development.
Displays include artifacts of ancient Maritime Archaic Indians, the Palaeoeskimo and Beothuk, and the European and Mi’kmaq who came next.

A locomotive of the Newfoundland Railway, which was closed in 1988, can be seen in front of the museum.
