Pont Couvert Molesworth

The Molesworth bridge was built in the 1930s and has been well maintained by the small town of Macamic. These historic “red bridges” were all the rage in the 50s; now, only 84 of 1000 are left in the Quebec area. The architecture was improved to solidify the wooden beams in the rainy season.

The Molesworth bridge crosses over the beautiful Lois River. Enjoy a scenic bike ride across this unique bridge. Make sure to snap some photos while you’re at it!

Rest’eau du Quai

Sightseeing while you eat at Rest’eau du Quai, right beside the gigantic Macamic Lake; the restaurant offers a beautiful view of the local watering hole. Enjoy a classic fish and chips meal, some cheesy poutine, or a fruity sundae sprinkled with nuts and a cherry on top! The restaurant also bakes, creating masterpieces such as chocolate & raspberry cake. Open weekdays from 11:00 to 20:00 and weekends from 9:00 to 20:00.

Salle De Quilles Chez Josee

One of the last bowling alleys in the area, Salle De Quilles Chez Josee, invites you to their friendly establishment. The cozy environment is enhanced by a lovely little bar with a friendly bartender. The small business has only four bowling lanes but almost no wait times. The location can hold small events or get-togethers, such as the Intercultural Encounters Get-Together held in 2021. The site is closed on most holidays.

Call them for more information on operational hours and any events.

Ecole De Rang II Authier

The historical monument, École Du Rang II, has welcomed pupils to study at this school since 1937. Now the schoolhouse holds regular tours for anyone interested in the impressive collection of period objects and authentic architecture. Visit all the rooms, from classrooms to the head mistress’s apartment. Put yourself in the shoes of a student in the 1940s with the interactive experience offered here. Sit at the wooden desks and play school with questions from classes like geography, arithmetic, and French.

Those who don’t finish their homework will have to answer the head minister and the inspector. In the summer months, be transported to the Proulx mansion for a theatre performance. Keep your eye out for any creative workshops and special events on their website; most are offered every summer Saturday. Their Facebook page will also announce events like outdoor film night on a giant outdoor screen, accompanied by popcorn, hot chocolate, and tea.

Testimonial from Local Guide, Daniel Freve, Google Reviews:

“Beautiful tourist attraction! The personal is passionate about their work and knows the school’s history.”

Site Du Grand HĂ©ron

A spot found by Mr. Denis Alain in the early 1990s, the Great Heron footpaths and the observation post overlook some of the most beautiful sights in Macamic, Quebec. Admire the stunning landscapes from the trails below or the tower up above. The site offers educational insight into local flora and geomorphology, as well as opportunities for bird experts to spot local and visiting birds. The tourist attraction offers views of the largest lake in the Macamic area. Parking, restrooms, and other amenities are available on-site. GO as far as the lake’s west shoreline, and dip your toes in the chilly waters.
