Mennonite Heritage Village

Explore a turn-of-the-century Russian Mennonite street village on our 40-acre site. Mennonite Heritage Village has grown into a museum-complex complete with over 30 heritage buildings and monuments.

Steinbach was founded in 1874 by Plautdietsch-speaking Russian Mennonites. Many of Steinbach’s 18 original settler families came directly from the Borosenko colony in Imperial Russia.

Historic Stony Brook

With some modern investment in beautifying the ditch, Steinbach has now preserved the original corridor of the Stony Brook around which the town’s original settlers had established themselves.

Steinbach Rolls Royce

Don’t forget to take a selfie

The 1931 forty-foot replica Rolls Royce is a Steinbach landmark.

The car stands 40 feet long, 12 feet wide and 12 feet high. It was built in 1991 at a cost of $36,000. The car took three years to complete and was designed and constructed out of fibreglass and wood by John Henry Friesen.

Steinbach Millennium Clock Tower

The clock was officially unveiled in the summer of 2002.

The three-storey tower was designed by local commercial designer Ron Schalla. The traditional look and use of red brick with Tyndall stone accents were meant to pay tribute to the old town office that once stood across the street.

Steinbach Aquatic Centre

One of Steinbach’s main attractions is the Steinbach Aquatic Centre. This 24 000 square foot facility offers a junior Olympic pool with 6 lanes, 2 water slides, a 1-meter diving board, leisure pool, lazy river, feature sprays, children’s water play area, sauna, hot tub as well as a multipurpose room.

There is also an outdoor part of the facility which includes a pool, deck area and a splash park!
