The Puntledge River was once known for its two kinds of chinook salmon. The hatchery boasted summer and fall runs of these salmon and different steelhead trout and salmon species. This hatchery exists to save these chinook salmon from extinction!
There are self-guided tours that you can do to view the hatchery and river. Signs and displays are placed throughout to inform people about the hatchery. There is also an underwater viewing area where you can stop to view the fish! As well as exploring the hatchery, you can walk on the many paths by the river.
