Waterford Heritage Trail

If you are in the mood for a great hike, this is the trail for you! It is 19km long and is open year-round. Make sure to pack appropriate hiking equipment and start the hike ahead of time before dark.

A popular point of interest you will come across is Black Bridge. It is an old rail bridge which has now been converted into a pedestrian bridge as part of the trail. On the trail, you will see ponds, beautiful views, and lookout points. You will also pass through gorgeous forests, fields, wetlands and grasslands, so make sure you dress warm and with waterproof shoes. This trial allows for hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing.

You can access the hike through Jenkins Road, where the trail connects to the Brantford Rail Trail, as well as access Waterford at the end of Nichol Street.

Waterford North Conservation Area

As you travel to Waterford, this area should be a mandatory stop on your itinerary.  You’ll find three different ponds there, Pickerel Lake, willow Pond and Bass Lake. It is the perfect spot for a family camping trip, paddling in a canoe, fishing, or finding a spot for a nice picnic.

The area is popular with fishermen. You will surely find a wide variety of fish species, such as largemouth bass, panfish and northern pike.

Waterford Pumpkinfest

Mid October

This tradition starts in Waterford in the 1980s. An annual tradition is a huge “pumpkin pyramid” of 1500 carved pumpkins.

We have live music, craft beer, vendors, an indoor marketplace, a midway, a parade, and so much more! Entertainment for the kids and the old folks. Food, Food, Food!!!

Waterford Heritage & Agricultural Museum

The museum collects and exhibits objects that are related to the history of Waterford and former Townsend Township and the agricultural history of Norfolk County. The Museum is open Wednesdays – Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm.

Old Town Hall

If you are in town, you definitely won’t want to miss out on visiting this performing arts venue! There are concerts and live theatre performances taking place throughout the year. There is a variety of art on display in the lobby gallery and books in the basement bookshop.

The office, gallery and artisan shop are open Tuesday to Friday from 12 pm to 4 pm. The gallery, artisan shop and bookstore are open Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Quilt junction is a small specialty and gift shop located in Waterford where they provide high-quality fabrics, quilt kits, sewing notions, threads and quilting tools for creative minds like you.

They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, so be sure to visit them!

This is a great antique market. There are two floors, and over 70 vendors offer a variety of things to customers providing you with a little bit of everything. You’ll find art, books, clothing & textiles, farmhouse pieces, china & glassware, handmade items, jewelry, medical aids & devices, pottery, radios, rare & collectible items, stoneware, tools & hardware, toys and vintage décor!

Hopefully, you’ve been convinced to visit this market. Find some great home décor or presents for your loved ones. A small gift goes a long way!

They are open from 10 am to 4 pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

Bonnieheath Estate Lavender & Winery

If you are ever in the Norfolk County area and enjoy fine wine and ciders, this should definitely be on your list of places to visit! The vineyard is ten acres big on a 130-acre farm, producing nine grape varieties harvested to produce wine you can drink on any occasion.

The climate surrounding the area is perfect for producing the best grapes, which lend themselves well to making fine-tasting wine. There are a few full-bodied reds, a few light & refreshing whites and unique lavender-infused bubbly and dessert wine.

The estate is open five days a week from Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm!
