Known locally as the “Valley of Hidden Secrets,” the Frenchman River Valley stretches roughly 50 kilometres through some of the most dramatic landscapes in Saskatchewan. The river winds along the north side of Eastend, attracting birds, waterfowl, fish, and wildlife.
On the hilltops above, you can still see the last vestiges of the western frontier — teepee stones, gathering circles, homesteader shacks, wagon wheels, and crumbling log corrals. The exposed bedrock along the valley walls holds fossils spanning hundreds of millions of years.

Hiking, canoeing, photography, and self-guided driving tours are all excellent ways to explore. The valley is the reason Scotty was found, the reason Stegner wrote, and the reason artists keep coming back to Eastend.
