The 114-year-old train station at the heart of everything. The original Ogema CPR station was removed in the 1960s, so in 2002, volunteers found an identical 1912 CP Rail station in Simpson, Saskatchewan, purchased it, and moved it piece by piece to Ogema. They cleaned it, painted it, and restored it to its original condition.
The freight shed beside the station now houses a train museum with railway artifacts, photographs, and the story of how the Southern Prairie Railway came to be. The station itself serves as the departure point for all train tours.
Standing on the platform, looking down the tracks as they disappear into the flat prairie horizon, you’ll understand why 15 years of volunteer work was worth it.
