One of the most authentic and complete examples of a one-room prairie schoolhouse in Alberta. Beaver School served students in the district roughly 10 miles north of Castor from 1919 to 1959.
The school has been preserved with its original furniture, displays, and period textbooks. Step inside and you’re immediately transported to the early decades of the 20th century — chalk dust, wooden desks, and all.
In 1939, it became part of the Castor School Division, which administered 81 school districts, each with its own little school. This one survived, and it’s a treasure.
The Beaver School is part of the Castor & District Museum Society.
