The McCain Foods Story
In 1957, four brothers — Harrison, Wallace, Robert, and Andrew McCain — opened a small frozen food plant in Florenceville, New Brunswick. Their first year: 30 employees, $150,000 in sales.
Today, McCain Foods is the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen French fries. Over 20,000 employees, 49 production facilities on six continents, and roughly $16 billion in annual revenue. One in every four French fries consumed anywhere on the planet comes from a McCain plant. The global headquarters is still right here, in Florenceville-Bristol.

The original facility has been expanded many times, but the story remains rooted in the Saint John River Valley and the potato fields that surround it. Public tours of the plant aren’t offered, but you can view the birthplace of a global frozen food empire from the road — and you’ll understand why this town earned its title.
