In the French Fry Capital of the World, you’d better have a place that serves great fries. The French Fry Hut delivers — a takeout spot facing the Saint John River with outdoor picnic tables, burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and 108 different poutines. The beef curry poutine is a local favourite.
The town was originally called Buttermilk Creek before being renamed in 1855 to honour Florence Nightingale. The dining scene today is surprisingly varied for a community this size. On the Boardwalk Café & Wine offers waterfront dining with seasonal menus and local wines. FRESH, at the Shogomoc Railway Site, serves fine dining inside a restored rail car. Exit 153 at the Amsterdam Inn features Atlantic Canadian cuisine with local ingredients.
For a small river valley town, Florenceville-Bristol punches well above its weight at the table.
